Local SEO

Local SEO

What is Local SEO and why are you risking it if you ignore it?

Regular SEO competes for keywords. Local SEO competes for something more specific: that you appear when someone searches near a location, usually within the map and Google’s local results pack.

It doesn’t matter if your website is perfect if your Google Business Profile is incomplete, you have three reviews from 2019, or your address doesn’t match between your website and directories. That’s where you lose the customer who was already on their way to your door.

You don’t need a street-level storefront. If you serve a specific area, offer home services, or work by appointment, Local SEO also works in your favor.

What is it like to work with me on Local SEO?

  • Complete optimization of your Google Business Profile (categories, hours, photos, attributes, posts)
  • Review strategy: how to get them, how to respond, and how to avoid penalties
  • Competitor analysis
  • Consistency of name, address, and phone number in the local directories that truly matter
  • Consistency of structured data between your website and Google Business Profile
  • Website content and structure designed for “near me” and area-based searches
  • Possibility of hiring content created by professional SEO copywriters from different sectors. AI needs to be directed; you can’t just ask ChatGPT for content randomly.

Why me and not a “10 Local SEO Tips” template?

  • More than 10 years helping businesses rank, many with physical locations or delivery zones
  • I have specialized extensively in the medical and dental sector. I have a lot of experience (thanks to my clients) with this highly competitive sector.
  • I live and work in Pontevedra and Coruña, although I work remotely with international clients; I know what it’s like to fight to appear before the bar around the corner.
  • I teach SEO at the University of Vigo, UNED, and for the Xunta de Galicia: if I can explain it to students, I can explain it to you.
  • I have given talks at WordCamps and SEO and WordPress events throughout Spain; organizer of WordCamp Europe and WordCamp Galicia every year.
  • Zero PDF reports that nobody opens: everything on video, explained like you’re a person

Frequently Asked Questions about Local SEO (FAQ)

What is the difference between SEO and Local SEO?

SEO aims for your website to rank for any search (regardless of location). Local SEO prioritizes your appearance when someone searches near a specific location, usually on the map and in Google’s local results pack.

Do I need a physical store for this to make sense?

Not necessarily. If you serve a specific area, offer home services (like my case), or work by appointment, Local SEO also applies.

How long does it take to appear on Google Maps?

The first improvements to your listing are noticeable within weeks. Climbing positions against established competitors takes months, as with any SEO project.

Do you manage multiple locations or just one business?

Both cases. If you have multiple locations (franchise, branches), the approach changes to prevent listings from competing with each other instead of helping each other.

Is Local SEO included in your monthly plans?

Always. Some projects need to dedicate more resources to Local SEO, and others less, but you can get an idea of prices with the typical monthly plans. It usually starts with plus or advanced plans at the beginning of the project and then reduces to the basic plan.

Do you need to do link building for Local SEO?

Not necessarily. Some simpler projects don’t need link building services, but there are highly competitive services where a more aggressive strategy is necessary. This depends heavily on the sector, competition, and, of course, the target locality. It is assessed in an initial meeting.

Is an SEO audit necessary for Local SEO?

No. It’s like killing a fly with a cannon. SEO audits are necessary for certain types of projects, websites, and clients, but for Local SEO, the preliminary analyses we do are sufficient. There’s no point in giving you a PDF you won’t use. You want results, not theory.

Are you going to give away your “near me” customers to the competition?
