It&#8217;s my favorite band. It evokes wonderful memories for me, as it&#8217;s a group I grew up with since childhood.  <\/p>\n\n<p>I was born in the \u201cvalley of bullets\u201d, and I&#8217;ve never stopped following them.<\/p>\n\n<p>My first concert, I was about 12 years old and I got to see them at Christmas festivals where they mixed Venezuelan gaita groups (it&#8217;s a type of Christmas music, with groups like: Guaco, Maracaibo 15, etc.) with this delicious \u201c<em>Venezuelan ska<\/em>\u201d that never leaves anyone indifferent.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/wajari.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Desorden-Publico-1024x683.jpeg\" alt=\"Public Disorder\" class=\"wp-image-11440\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wajari.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Desorden-Publico-1024x683.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/wajari.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Desorden-Publico-300x200.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/wajari.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Desorden-Publico-768x512.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/wajari.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Desorden-Publico-1536x1024.jpeg 1536w, https:\/\/wajari.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Desorden-Publico-scaled.jpeg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Public Disorder. <strong>Photo<\/strong>: <a href=\"https:\/\/diariocaribazo.com\/entretenimiento\/todo-esta-listo-para-las-navidades-desordenadas-de-desorden-publico\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Diario Caribazo<\/a><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>My first cassettes were theirs, and at that time, the usual way to listen to your favorite groups was to wait for them to come on the <strong>radio<\/strong> and record them to listen to them anytime.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Ska<\/strong>, a musical genre born in <strong>Jamaica<\/strong>, has grown and evolved beyond its borders and in <strong>Latin America<\/strong>, it found a cradle that gave it style and character.<\/p>\n\n<p>DP has been an original proposal that gets anyone dancing. <\/p>\n\n<p>With intelligent, poetic lyrics (\u201cSimon Guacamayo\u201d), without forgetting the irony, humor, and social criticism of the reality of their environment.<\/p>\n\n<p>I must have seen them live more than 15 times, when they celebrated their <strong>18th anniversary<\/strong> at the emblematic <strong>Teresa Carre\u00f1o<\/strong> theater, which generated an album, I was there. Today, <strong>May 2025<\/strong>, celebrating their <strong>40th anniversary<\/strong> tour, I had the honor and privilege of being at the first concert of the tour in <strong>Santiago de Compostela<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n<p>For me, borders have always been imaginary. I never paid attention to nationalities or flags.  <\/p>\n\n<p>I believe, as the Mago de Oz song says:<\/p>\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cYou are not a tree, that&#8217;s why you have two feet, the wisest man is the one who knows that his home is as big as he can imagine\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/wajari.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/DP-antigua-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11442\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wajari.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/DP-antigua-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/wajari.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/DP-antigua-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/wajari.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/DP-antigua-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/wajari.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/DP-antigua.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Me as a \u201clighting\u201d assistant to meet DP. <strong>Year<\/strong>: 2004?<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>I&#8217;ve been an immigrant in <strong>Galicia<\/strong> for 17 years from <strong>Venezuela<\/strong>, and although from a Galician family, it&#8217;s normal that I think about my origins with some nostalgia for what it was. <\/p>\n\n<p>But in all these years, it&#8217;s the <strong>first time I felt nostalgia for my country<\/strong> of birth thanks to the emotions experienced in this concert. <\/p>\n\n<p>The repertoire was impressive, as they took us through the entire artistic career of the group, from their origins and first songs, their evolution, the most current titles, to closing the circle with \u201c<strong>paralytic politicians<\/strong>\u201d, one of their first hits and the first song composed by Horacio Blanco.<\/p>\n\n<p>As a teenager, I was excited by \u201cbad breath\u201d, \u201cslippery shoes\u201d, and danced non-stop to \u201cthis is ska\u201d.<\/p>\n\n<p>\u201cWhere is the future?\u201d, seemed to me much more than a song. It was an anthem of my childhood that introduced me to a type of ska that was very much our own and close to our reality. <\/p>\n\n<p>The \u201c<strong>Dance of the skeletons<\/strong>\u201d for me, has more philosophy than many sacred books. It&#8217;s a cry against intolerance, racism. An <strong>ode to life<\/strong> in which I have always seen myself reflected when I felt sad. Music has an incredible healing power.    <\/p>\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>The skeletons dance<br\/>They dance through the ages<br\/>Without jewels or arrogance, without etiquette rules<br\/>Without vanity, without pride or modesty<br\/>(\u2026)<br\/>The skeletons don&#8217;t go to temples<br\/>They discovered that there&#8217;s never a good reason<br\/>for hate and humiliation<br\/>They discovered that love sees no color<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n<p>It&#8217;s a shame that at that time we didn&#8217;t have Spotify&#8217;s <em>wrapped<\/em>, but without a doubt the album \u201c<strong>Popular Song of Life and Death<\/strong>\u201d I must have played millions of times, accompanying and cheering almost all moments of my life (even today). <\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"769\" src=\"https:\/\/wajari.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/DP-2025-1024x769.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11451\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wajari.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/DP-2025-1024x769.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/wajari.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/DP-2025-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/wajari.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/DP-2025-768x577.jpg 768w, https:\/\/wajari.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/DP-2025-1536x1154.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/wajari.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/DP-2025.jpg 1800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Kind and affectionate, with all the exhaustion after the 2.5-hour concert, they gave me this moment. Old and new generations of the group. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>Some curious details about my history with DP:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>I have the first album autographed (by Danel, Capl\u00eds and Horacio, I missed Oscarello)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>When Horacio defended his thesis at the communication faculty, which was next to Anthropology, at UCV, I saw him and ran with a friend (Ramsey Salazar) (like a lovestruck \u201cfan\u201d) to ask for an autograph. Today, as an adult, I see it wasn&#8217;t the best moment. I hope he can forgive me for that indiscretion \u00af (\u30c4)_\/\u00af  <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Every time I went to Choron\u00ed, a coastal area very special for its geographical isolation, and home to many of my childhood memories, I used to listen to \u201cTiembla\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I have ALL the group&#8217;s albums. Some in duplicate, like Diablo, because they released it in a promotional version with a telecommunications company and I wanted to have both versions <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>An ex-partner (Tanny Salinas) and her group of journalism students from the Catholic University did some interviews with the group on a program dedicated to Capl\u00eds.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I posed as a lighting assistant to be with them and offered to <strong>pick up Capl\u00eds from his house<\/strong> and take him to the interview.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>That car journey (long if you know Caracas traffic) was one of the best conversations about music I&#8217;ve ever had. Capl\u00eds is a music encyclopedia and introduced me to my second favorite ska band, but this time from Japan: \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/tokyoska.net\/tokyoskaen\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra<\/a>\u201d (there&#8217;s not a week I don&#8217;t listen to them). <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>My <strong>sister<\/strong> (Kasbrika) and my brother-in-law <strong>Jon<\/strong>, gave me in 2012, the book: \u201cDesorden P\u00fablico, buscando algo en el Caribe\u201d by Mar\u00eda Isabel Cer\u00f3n. Autographed by all the members at that time. A gift I received with much affection.   <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Danel<\/strong> had another musical project: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/papashantyoficial\/?hl=es\" rel=\"noopener\">Papa Shanty<\/a> (now disbanded) whose most famous song: \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/intl-es\/track\/3tolEqZoTZCS8CpIvYvCKe?si=2fcf608e80fd4016\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">M\u00fasica de paz<\/a>\u201d, I think is Buddhist philosophy. It&#8217;s a wonderful poetry of principles, human and spiritual values. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>Thanks to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/horacioblancomusic\/?hl=es\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Horacio Blanco<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/caplis007\/?hl=es\" rel=\"noopener\">Jose Luis \u201cCapl\u00eds\u201d Chac\u00edn<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/dansar\/?hl=es\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Danel Sarmiento<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/oscarellodesorden\/?hl=es\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u00d3scar \u201cOscarello\u201d Alca\u00edno<\/a>. Your work will always be an inspiration.  <\/p>\n\n<p>It&#8217;s incredible the effort and <strong>resistance for 40 years<\/strong> of doing what motivated you, evolving, but without changing your essence, spirit of rebellion, joy for music and life. \u2764\ufe0f <\/p>\n\n<p>I hope the \u201ccombat\u201d lasts many more years for you, and to have the luck of finding you anywhere in the world with your wonderful \u201cdisorder\u201d.
