You are no longer the same person. Sounds far-fetched, you might claim. But can you deny that you create your reality every day?  <\/p>\n\n<p>First when you build it in your mind, and then when you execute it.  <\/p>\n\n<p>Going to <a href=\"https:\/\/europe.wordcamp.org\/2022\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">WC Europe<\/a> is like a super intensive day of conversations and energy recharging with thousands of people, who share common interests. Professions, hobbies, all with the excuse of learning more about <strong>WordPress<\/strong>.  <\/p>\n\n<p>You don&#8217;t learn much from WordPress, that&#8217;s the reality.  <\/p>\n\n<p>You take away new ideas, some <strong>plugin <\/strong>that you didn&#8217;t know, some interesting methodology that you learn in a workshop.  <\/p>\n\n<p>But knowledge needs to mature like a wine, with practice and time.  <\/p>\n\n<p>If we don&#8217;t go for the knowledge&#8230; Why do we do it?  <\/p>\n\n<p>Why do more than 2,700 people buy a ticket and travel, in some cases, thousands of miles to attend an event that lasts only 3 days?<\/p>\n\n<p>For the <strong>people<\/strong>. And boy, after this pandemic, it has been sorely needed.  <\/p>\n\n<p>Human beings are social entities.  <\/p>\n\n<p>Part of the base of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iep.edu.es\/las-5-fases-de-la-piramide-de-maslow\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Maslow&#8217;s pyramid<\/a> is based, after basic needs such as food, clothing, health, etc., on <strong>security<\/strong>, affiliation, recognition.  <\/p>\n\n<p>All these phases go through the <strong>connection with people<\/strong>. Without that, we are incomplete.  <\/p>\n\n<p>It doesn&#8217;t matter how much money you make, or whether or not you have fulfilled that image of success you may have. If you don&#8217;t connect with people, many of your needs are not met.  <\/p>\n\n<p>It seems simple, but we know that the reality is very complicated.  <\/p>\n\n<p>People can become complex, selfish, jealous. Differences in expectations can lead to friction.  <\/p>\n\n<p>If you work in a toxic environment, with extremely <strong>competitive<\/strong>, individualistic <strong>people<\/strong>.  <\/p>\n\n<p>If you did not learn to manage your <strong>emotions<\/strong> and self-esteem at home when you were a child, you will feel frustrated and insecure.  <\/p>\n\n<p>All these negative things of today&#8217;s society: extreme competitiveness, lack of empathy, intolerance, jealousy, can be fought in a simple way: learning to <strong>share<\/strong>.  <\/p>\n\n<p>Open yourself to new experiences and let your mind change, which is the first step to transform your life.  <\/p>\n\n<p>This and much more is what a <strong>WordCamp<\/strong> is for.  <\/p>\n\n<p>The <em>open source<\/em> spirit of these conferences, and the whole philosophy behind it, as I have already told in the <a href=\"https:\/\/wajari.com\/blog\/historias-software-libre-open-source\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"4855\">stories of free software<\/a>, makes you understand other realities, abandon your <strong>ego <\/strong>a little and see other ways to collaborate.  <\/p>\n\n<p>It makes your mind expand to new methodologies, ways of relating and working, which will make your life better.  <\/p>\n\n<p>But it all depends on how much you are willing to expose yourself to change your mind and enjoy the flow: &#8220;<em>Be water my friend<\/em>&#8221; as the martial arts master <strong>Bruce Lee<\/strong> taught us.  <\/p>\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Codeable_travel_and_dinner\"><\/span>Codeable travel and dinner<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n<p>For obvious reasons <strong>WC Europe<\/strong> had been cancelled in person for the last two editions. They were made online<a href=\"https:\/\/europe.wordcamp.org\/2020\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">(2020<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/europe.wordcamp.org\/2021\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2021<\/a>).  <\/p>\n\n<p>I participated in both, but very sporadically and reluctantly. Like many people there was a saturation of online events.  <\/p>\n\n<p>Knowing that (finally!) it would be held in person was a burst of energy. I bought my ticket when it came out.  <\/p>\n\n<p>As was to be expected, the <strong>Galician community<\/strong> was going to attend en masse. We are very close to the event. So we&#8217;d been going for months with tickets, lodging reservations, etc.  <\/p>\n\n<p>I would like to mention everyone and everyone I interacted with at the event, as I tried to do in an extreme memory exercise in the case of the <a href=\"https:\/\/wajari.com\/blog\/wordcamp-irun-2022\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"4940\">Irun<\/a> event, but this time I will skip that goal.  <\/p>\n\n<p>I don&#8217;t want to make a testament to this post. I hope you see yourself reflected in some way in my writing.  <\/p>\n\n<p>We started the trip with part of the Galician group: <strong>Jose Luis<\/strong>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.entrenadortecnologico.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">David Lopez<\/a> and Carlos<a href=\"https:\/\/www.soyunignorante.es\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">(I am an ignorant<\/a>). JL and I needed to get to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.codeable.io\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Codeable<\/a> dinner.  <\/p>\n\n<p>WP freelance developers platform where our friend <a href=\"https:\/\/tabernawp.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Carlos Longarela<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/vimes1984\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Christopher Churchill<\/a>, who already knew from the <a href=\"https:\/\/europe.wordcamp.org\/2019\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Berlin<\/a> edition <a href=\"https:\/\/europe.wordcamp.org\/2019\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">in 2019<\/a>, invited us. thank you for this fantastic gift! \ud83d\ude4f<\/p>\n\n<p>A private dinner that had nothing to do with the organization of the WC, but where this incredible company of Danish origin, takes the opportunity to bring together some of its members.  <\/p>\n\n<p>Already on the first day I was stunned by the majesty of the place, at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pestanacollection.com\/en\/hotel\/freixo-palace?utm_source=google-my-business&amp;utm_medium=organicsearch&amp;utm_campaign=freixo-palace\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Pestana Palacio do Freixo<\/a>. An incredible celebration that looked like a wedding. A very nice day where we were finally able to embrace hundreds of people we had not been able to see for years.  <\/p>\n\n<p>I, as usual, went to the <a href=\"https:\/\/wordpress.tv\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">WordPress TV<\/a> table. It was directed by <a href=\"https:\/\/davidperezgar.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">David P\u00e9rez<\/a>, a friend from Granada whom I have already mentioned in this blog on other occasions, who together with <a href=\"https:\/\/jesusyesares.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Jes\u00fas Yesarez<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/sacrajaimez.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Sacra J\u00e1imez<\/a> run the excellent podcast: <a href=\"https:\/\/ninjasdelmarketing.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ninjas del marketing<\/a>.  <\/p>\n\n<p>I had a little computer glitch, (thanks to <a href=\"https:\/\/fedepadilla.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Fede Padilla<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/unapersona.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Jorge <\/a>and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.soyunignorante.es\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Carlos Sobrino<\/a> for helping me to solve it). You guys are the best. \ud83d\ude18<\/p>\n\n<p>I loved the project of Fede, a marketing consultant from Malaga. It is not easy to feed 800 people when in reality there were fewer people signed up.  <\/p>\n\n<p>At lunch you couldn&#8217;t even eat because of all the people you met. target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Nora<\/a>, Marta Fabregas, the great <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nilovelez.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Nilo Velez<\/a> who took some spectacular photos and a surprise to see <a href=\"https:\/\/www.veronicacouso.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Veronica Couso<\/a>, who I met at the <a attracted a lot of attention throughout the event were the free roaming <strong>peacocks<\/strong>. Some people even fed him in a very peculiar way (right Vero?).  <\/p>\n\n<p>That same evening was the dinner for volunteers, speakers and organization.  <\/p>\n\n<p>It was made in <a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Matosinhos\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Matosinhos <\/a>and honestly, few places have left me so surprised. With spectacular views, almost in the <strong>sea<\/strong>, in a building that left almost no one indifferent.  <\/p>\n\n<p>Typical of these dinners, lots of conversations, meeting very interesting people from many parts of the world.  <\/p>\n\n<p>And the detail of the local organization with a traditional group. As a constructive criticism, the speaker was not physically present and following him with the connection difficulties was a bit complex. I recommend that they should always be with face-to-face speakers in order to avoid such situations of low latency, loss of connections, etc.  <\/p>\n\n<p>Apart from the official events, there are always some incredible parties organized by sponsors.  <\/p>\n\n<p>One of the most famous is the one we enjoyed that same day organized by <a href=\"https:\/\/wpengine.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">WP Engine<\/a> on the banks of the Douro River.  <\/p>\n\n<p>A fantastic evening in a beautiful bar. fantastic talk by <a href=\"https:\/\/valchanova.me\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Vassilena Valchanova<\/a>: &#8220;Building data-drive content personas&#8221;. As well as the talk by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/piccia-neri\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Piccia Neri<\/a>, a designer I have mentioned in other posts for the quality of her presentations.  <\/p>\n\n<p>In this case Piccia talked about &#8220;Design for Conversion: How to be more profitable by putting people first&#8221;.  <\/p>\n<div climb on a crane to take it.  <\/p>\n\n<p>And we end the day with the conversation between <a href=\"https:\/\/josepha.blog\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Josepha Haden<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/ma.tt\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Matt Mullenweg<\/a>, which always generates great expectation and good questions from the audience.  <\/p>\n\n<figure We don&#8217;t realize the immense responsibility they take on to put on these events and have everything go so well.  <\/p>\n\n<p>I do not want to imagine the complexities and fears of holding an event of this magnitude, after the pandemic, with all that it has implied in terms of health, with the fear of cancellations, and thousands of factors that I am sure we do not know.  <\/p>\n\n<p>Thank you!<\/p>\n\n<p>Not only to the leaders, but to the entire team.  <\/p>\n\n<p>In addition, <strong>Spain <\/strong>has been very well represented with the omnipresent: <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/monchomad\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Moncho<\/a>, as one of the organizing leaders, <strong>Juan Hernando<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/ciudadanob.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">(ciudadanob<\/a>) in the <strong>budget <\/strong>team and <a href=\"https:\/\/robertotunon.com\/es\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Roberto Tu\u00f1on<\/a>, in the leadership of the <strong>design<\/strong> team, which frankly, in this WC that team stood out a lot.  <\/p>\n\n<p>The whole design and graphic image of the event was fascinating. One of the most impressive I have ever seen. In its design team, <a href=\"https:\/\/flabernardez.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Flavia Bern\u00e1rdez<\/a>, a well-known crack within our community, who starred in a curious story that <a href=\"https:\/\/tabernawp.com\/wordcamp-europe-porto-el-regreso-2022-06-08.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Carlos<\/a> tells <a href=\"https:\/\/tabernawp.com\/wordcamp-europe-porto-el-regreso-2022-06-08.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">in his review<\/a> and demonstrates the power of the <strong>hive<\/strong>.  <\/p>\n\n<p>In addition, <a href=\"https:\/\/josearcos.me\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Jos\u00e9 Arcos<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.arkangel.info\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u00c1ngel Moreno<\/a> in the <strong>community<\/strong> team.  <\/p>\n\n<p>And of course the rest of the <a href=\"https:\/\/europe.wordcamp.org\/2022\/organisers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">organizers<\/a>, I would like to highlight the incredible work of the local group with <a href=\"https:\/\/kaksimedia.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Jos\u00e9 Freitas<\/a>, and all the love he put into making this happen.  <\/p>\n\n<p>And friends from other organizing teams such as <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/nilovelez\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Nilo <\/a>in photography, <a href=\"https:\/\/davidperezgar.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">David Perez<\/a> in sponsors, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JoseLuis_Losada\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Jose Luis Losada<\/a> (of course!) and <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/sveta_gsky\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Sveta Guzovskaia<\/a> in the team of <strong>volunteers<\/strong>.  <\/p>\n\n<p>Of course, the farewell parties are legendary.  <\/p>\n\n<p>With live music, DJs, a party that lasts many hours and serves to release energy after 3 very intense days for the attendees, and many more for the organization team.  <\/p>\n\n<p>At the farewell, as always, the next destination is announced, which in this case will be <strong>Athens<\/strong>. So it will be our turn to meet <strong>Greece <\/strong>in 2023. What&#8217;s more, they do it with a video that makes your hair stand on end.  <\/p>\n\n<p>The Greek community deserves to be the guests. That&#8217;s the real value of this tool, not making webs or open source, but the community and all the human value you have.  <\/p>\n\n<p>You get home energized and ready to take on the world. Although I admit that I need almost two days to recover from so much partying \u00af (\u30c4)_\/\u00af  <\/p>\n\n<p>So if you have the opportunity, take part. You won&#8217;t regret it.
